Not So Funny:F

So, about four years ago I wrote a wierd and introspective poem (I took poetry while in University so I could become an accountant one day) about the connection of Britney Spears to Kurt Cobain. They both had/have a stranglehold on the attention of the country's young people. They had followings that are as loyal as family. They both loved and yearned for a fame that ultimately they came hate.

Now, as Britney is a little over a month in to her 26th year, she is in lots of personal distress. Sure, we all laughed when we saw Chris Crocker crying on Youtube, but now, we may see his point. If Britney is eating from a Silver Spoon, it will either be in rehab, or alone, without her children, family, or many old friends. She has been heavily warned about substance abuse issues, and may never have custody over her kids again.

Kurt lost a lot of things. Self respect. Dignity. Privacy. And in losing those things to his popularity, money, prestige, and hidden life, he lost it. Drugs became his only outlet until suicide. He was just 27. You can see Gus Van Sant's ideas on His Last Days in the feature film so titled.

I have to blame our society a little, the celebs themselves a little, and the papparazzi a little. It's nobody's entire fault, but it is scary. And, I hope, really do, that Spears can live well past 26, and in to a (more) normal (clean and sober) adult life with her kids, friends and family. Hopefully, Chris Crocker and I will be wrong on this one.

Stop the Papparazzi (legally), Help Hollywood Stay Sober (enforce laws at Hollywood nightclubs, and other hotspots), and Help these People who are destroying themselves.

One way to help, YOU should stop buying junk like US Weekly, Star Magazine, and OK. They'll take creative license, but understand these people, and supporting them, will kill these young celebrities.

Hollywood Fame: F- (It's so dangerous. She got fame she wanted, and now it's eating her alive, just like it did Kurt Cobain).

Have a Merry Merry

...Know what I am saying, know what I am saying? Never forget the joy that was every 33rd skit of Andy Milonaukis. It was great, every 33rd time at least. Anyways, again, have some nice holidays, whatever. Speaking of whatever, is this "A Very Rick James Christmas" (above~?) Apparently not only was Jesus black, so was Santa. Word.
If you are just being lazy, don't go to restaurants. But if you don't have any family around, then do, go to restaurants and be nice, maybe the waiter(s) and waitress(es) will enjoy your company like you enjoy theirs.
Everyone should have a reason to smile at the holidays, and if not, write me at EatSacDrinkSac@yahoo.com and I will be your friend. Also, I hope to have many more dining experiences in the early new year to tell you about.

Mimi's Cafe: A-

I hear you: How did Mimis Cafe become the first place to be reviewed this weekend? Well, Saturday night I started by watching the fight (Mayweather vs. Hatton) at my boy Anthony and Noah's place. The fight was great, but our contender, a one Ricky Hatton of England, took the fall.

So it was off to Streets of London, to catch a beer with the Brits. After five minutes, and saying hello to an old friend, we decided to make a run to Whisky Wild, which is some new saloon/bar/club out in the South side of downtown/midtown. After five minutes of freezing my balls off in line, we bailed. Then we went to watch Superbad. Awesome movie by the way. So, after about five minutes at both Streets, and Whisky, I didn't feel we accomplished enough to review.

So Sunday morning, well, afternoon (don't judge me), a lady friend and I headed to Mimis Cafe. It's a "cute" place with similar style to the Disneyland Hotel. It's noticeably clean, bright, and full of Corporate Restaurant cheer.

We waited for a little bit, which was odd, because it wasn't very busy. We found out later that, it had been swamped in the hours preceding our visit, so we could understand a little collective breath catching may have been taking place. When we sat down, we took a booth in the area also known as the Cafe (with both booths, and a bar top for people to sidle up too, the picture below looks like a shot from our booth).

Our server's name was Alvie. He was super nice, and very helpful. Although he seemed fairly busy, he had that presence of an old time server, one of those cats you wouldn't catch stumbling. I ordered breakfast, some Bacon and Eggs, with country potatoes, and Orange Juice and Coffee. My lady friend ordered their new Carne Asada Salad.

My breakfast was great. The bacon was cooked well, but not burnt up. The eggs were hot, and tasty. I didn't even add salt or pepper to a thing. Everything tasted perfect. Then I jumped in on a few bites of the Carne Asada Salad. Wow. This salad is something. The presentation itself is immaculate, then the flavors of this thing were so full, and alive. The steak tender, marinated, and the salad a perfect compliment.

Overall the experience was very pleasant. Our server kept our table in perfect order. When we were through with our food he made sure to immediately take our dishes, and offer us (with charm, not push) some desserts. With the one exception of waiting at the beginning, I'd say this was a top notch dining experience, and I would strongly recommend you go see them too. Just wait until after the rush of old people on Sunday Mornings.

A- (A great option, not a fine dining experience, more like home sweet home).

In The Kitchen

Alright players and peeps, this here is post number one. I will from this day forward serve as your trustworthy friend, filling you in on all things Sacramento.

As I check out a restaurant, you will hear about it. The ups, the downs, the food poisoning. But I can promise you that it won't just be negative shee-ite all the time like the jacked up restaurant reviewer from the Sac News & Review. What's her name, ah yes?
Kate Washington! Has she ever liked anything?

Note to Editor: Fire that broad.

If you have a place you want me to check out, just send me the info. If you are a waiter, chef, or restaurant owner, holler at me, and I will come check you out. Write me at
